Annette Pittman Honored at the 2023 Kaw City Reunion

DAC Honored 2023Annette Cline Pittman, long-time supporter of the Kaw City Museum, was presented with a plaque honoring and appreciating both her and her late husband Bob Cline at the 2023 Annual Open House on May 28. Bob and Annette grew up in Kaw City and were instrumental in obtaining and moving the train depot from Old Kaw City to the town’s new site in 1972, and developing it into a museum that has preserved the history of their hometown.

Kaw City Museum commemorates the history of a small, northern Oklahoma town, forced to relocate in the early 70’s when the United States Corps of Engineers picked its fertile land as the site for the 38-mile Kaw Lake. Housed in the old town’s train depot, the museum is operated by volunteers and is funded through donations and fund-raisers. Established in 1972, the museum has undergone several expansions as its collection of artifacts has grown.

Kaw City – A Pictorial History is available from the museum for donation of $20 or more. Written by native Kaw Citian Annette Pittman and her daughter, Susan Rutledge, the book features 200 photographs collected over a dozen decades from the Old Town’s residents. Worn and aged, each image provides a glimpse of Kaw City’s early days. All proceeds benefit the museum.
